How to Change Direct Express Password
To complete the reset the password for your Direct Express account, you can retrieve that information by following these steps:
Step 1 – Visit Direct Express Website
The first step to changing your Direct Express online account password is to visit the Direct Express website. Click here to be taken there.
Once there, you need to select your appropriate card number to be taken to the correct login page.
Step 2 – Select your Card Number
If your Card Number starts with 5332 48 or 5115 63, check the appropriate circle as shown below and follow the instructions.
Note that we have provided login instructions below for both. Scroll down to see the instructions for your specific card number.
If your Card Number starts with 5332 48, you will be taken to a login page that looks like the one below.
To retrieve your password, you have to first confirm your User ID.
Enter your User ID as shown below, then click “Submit”.
If you entered the correct User ID, you will be taken to a page where you will see the “Forgot Password?” link.
Click on the “Forgot Password?” link for further instructions on how to reset your password.
For Direct Express Card Numbers that start with 5115 63, check the appropriate box below, then click “PROCEED TO LOGIN” to continue.
You will be taken to a page like the one below. Click on the “Forgot Your Password?” link as shown below.
Next, you will be taken to a page like the one below where you will be asked to enter your “User ID” to reset your password, as shown below.
Once you successfully reset your password, you will be able to login to your Direct Express debit card account.
How to Unlock Direct Express Account
If your Direct Express card is locked or frozen and you are unable to use the card, we can help you get it unlocked.

How to Check Direct Express Card Balance
There are four ways you can check the balance on your Direct Express Debit Card:
Option 1 – Through the Mobile Application
First, you can check your Direct Express card balance through the mobile application. The mobile app is available for both iPhones and Android devices.
In addition to checking your balance, you can perform the following functions with the Direct Express Mobile Application:
- View Card Summary
- Transfer Money from your Card to a Bank Account
- View Your Transaction History
- Manage Direct Express Card Alerts
- Temporarily Block Card to Prevent Fraudulent Use
- File a Dispute with Direct Express
- Request a New Card (if lost/stolen)
Option 2 – Online

The third option to checking your card balance is to call the Direct Express card Customer Service Department. They’re available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Option 4 – Use an ATM
