We know readers have various questions regarding the Stimulus Debit Card – Economic Impact Payment Card (EIP Card). We decided to set up this Stimulus Debit Card FAQs page to address the most common questions we get.

The Stimulus Debit Card or EIP Card is used by the United States Department of Treasury to send stimulus payments to eligible individuals and families.

If you are eligible for the first stimulus check for $1,200, second stimulus check of $600 or third check for $1,400, your payment may have been sent via an EIP card.

The FAQs below will give you answers to what you need to know about the Stimulus Debit Card and how to check if one was sent to you.

More questions will be added as and when we receive reader feedback.

Stimulus Debit Card FAQs

Here are the most frequently asked Stimulus Debit Card questions:

What does the Stimulus Debit Card look like?

Your EIP Card will be mailed to you at the most recent mailing address filed with the IRS.

Your EIP Card will arrive in a white envelope that prominently displays the U.S. Treasury seal and includes “Economic Impact Payment Card” in the return address.

Additionally, the envelope also states that it contains “Important information about your Economic Impact Payment.”

The card itself will say “Visa” on the front and “MetaBank” (the issuing bank) on the back.

For what the card looks like, see the image below:

What does the Stimulus Debit Card Envelope look like?

The United States Department of the Treasury mailed the Stimulus Debit Card to approximately 8 million Americans.

If you are one of the recipients of the debit card, it is important that you do not think it is some sort of scam or junk mail and throw it away.

That envelope might contain a debit card with the stimulus check payment you’ve been waiting for.

Why did I get a Stimulus Debit Card?

You received a Stimulus Debit Card from the Department of the Treasury because you are eligible for an economic impact payment, otherwise known as a stimulus payment.

However, you received a debit card because you do not have a bank account on file with the IRS.

Therefore, instead of mailing a paper check (which takes longer to process), the Department of the Treasure is sending prepaid debit cards loaded with stimulus payments.

How do I Activate Stimulus Debit Card?
